MEET THE AUTHORS 2024

Tuesday, April 23rd | 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Required Application Here

FFCA will host a Meet the Authors as part of the Opening Night Reception with some new twists. All Authors who are registered for the conference as a full conference attendee or exhibitor may apply to be part of our reception on Tuesday evening. This event will give attendees the opportunity to view the breadth and depth of publications available in the field as well as speak one-on-one with leading authors.

NEW IN 2024

FFCA will set-up two locations for Meet the Authors to display their books outside of the International Ballroom and adjacent to the 2024 Expo where the hosted beverage station will centralize for all attendees from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Opening Night Reception doors open in the International Ballroom at 6:00 p.m. with an additional assigned table to display your books. Each author will be given 30 seconds to share about their book(s) in a rapid approach. Following the Meet the Authors, the Opening Night Reception dinner and entertainment will commence under the leadership of Paris Escovedo for a night of fun, dancing, networking, food, beverages, and engagement with authors, exhibitors, attendees, and guests.

If you are a  published author, you need only RSVP to FFCA, and we will collaborate with you set-up. Priority placement for all exhibitors, followed by fully registered speakers, and then attendees. Only enrolled and paid authors or a  publisher who will bring your book(s) and promotional flyers to the event. If you are an author, it is your responsibility to bring your own book(s) and promotional flyers for display.

At the end of the evening, authors are required to donate one book from their works to give away on the closing, Thursday, April 25th General Session. FFCA will be responsible for collecting these books toward the end of the Meet The Authors event.

HOW IS THIS STRUCTURED? Authors will be assigned to a table where they will be available throughout the reception to answer questions about their work(s). There will be two authors per table with the expectation of approximately twenty participating authors.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE? All participating authors must sign up in advance and be registered for the conference.

WHAT SHOULD AUTHORS BRING? Authors should bring a copy of each book for which they wish to field questions, share of sale. They also should bring at least  10-15 copies of ordering information for each book displayed (if multiple books may be ordered from a lone source, then only 25-50 copies of a single order form need to be available). We are asking that each author sign the display copies and donate them for Thursday, April 25th closing General Session so at the end of the conference, we can provide some of amazing and talented contributions. Your generous contribution in this way is appreciated.

WHAT SHOULD AUTHORS DO DURING THE RECEPTION? Authors should be present at their table throughout the reception to welcome attendees (especially those with the 'first-time attendee' ribbons!) and respond to questions about their publications. Authors should make every effort to speak with multiple attendees rather than getting caught up in a lengthy conversation with a single person.

WHAT SHOULD AUTHORS NOT DURING THE RECEPTION? Authors should NOT leave their books and table if they intend to sale to avoid a freebie appearance.
