New Office in Puerto Rico and President of the Latino Institute of Fathers and Families Coalition

NEW OFFICE & LATINO INSTITUTE IN PUERTO RICO

I do not get overly excited about professional purpose-driven opportunities; however, I am delighted that we have formerly established FFCA in Puerto Rico!  Dr. Aida Diaz has based us at the Medina Professional Center, Calle Monseñor Torres, San Juan, Puerto Rico, 00925.  FFCA will form the new Latino Institute led by Dr. Aida Díaz Rivera.

DR. AIDA DÍAZ RIVERA

aida

President of the Latino Institute
Fathers and Families Coalition of America en Puerto Rico
San Juan, Puerto Rico

Aida was the President of Asociación de Maestros de Puerto Rico. She has dedicated herself for four decades defending the public school system and the teachers of Puerto Rico. Dra. Díaz started her career as a biology and science and family ecology teacher in various schools and has held multiple positions before the role of President of AMPR. She concurrently holds a position as a vice president of the American Federation of Teachers. Dra. Díaz was one of the first international leaders to have their agency join as an affiliate of FFCA.

Now is a new journey for both Dra. Díaz and our organization as she has decided to retire from AMPR and incorporate Fathers and Families Coalition of America in Puerto Rico.  Dra. Díaz is co-hosting our next practitioner course in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for a hybrid experience. The Fall Advanced Practitioner Credential Course allows FFCA to have a bilingual event, October 29th, and 30th and only virtual on November 5th. In 2021, we will focus on the O.A.R. Leadership Institute. Collectively, as well as with her extensive leadership experience, we will create a nonpartisan educational and policy institute to center on expanding professionals' skills, knowledge, and leadership supports with a focus on Latinos and others with a bilingual added experience.

I am very grateful for this next step in the journey of FFCA. We have always focused on the needs of diverse populations. Now we have a physical office, staffing, and a proven leader in Dra. Díaz to expand our efforts.
